Moffat Beach #2
I am falling in love with this place. And what's not to love. That gorgeous blue sky, azure water and awesome spikey looking palm trees. This is all on offer about 30-40 minutes drive from where we're currently living and it's in the middle of winter. Unbelievably nice.
I had my brother and sister-in-law to entertain on a Monday, so we headed up to Moffat Beach for the day. On the drive up we stopped by some lookout just off the Sunshine Coast highway and it had great views out over the ocean and the Glasshouse Mountains (see picture below). It's a unique looking area with these weird pinnacles everywhere. Apparently you can walk up at least one of them, which sounds like a great adventure to be had.
We had lunch at one of the cafes at Moffat Beach - it was surprisingly busy for a Monday. I thought it would be very quiet, but the cafe was pretty packed. Lunch was delicious - we all ordered different types of burgers (beef, lamb and chicken). It's such a great place for a wander by the beach, a coffee or snack and a browse through the shops.
We then drove back the scenic way past some of those interesting looking mountains (through Steve Irwin Way). It's a lovely drive, not just for the amazing rockscapes, but also all the farms - we saw lots of pineapple, strawberry and macadamia farms, all full of gorgeous fruit. Yum! Inspired us so much that we bought strawberries and a pineapple that very afternoon.

Beautiful photos Penne. Definitely a place to visit next time up!
ReplyDeleteIs this place closer to North Lakes than your new house? Have we finally found an advantage to North Lakes?
Love the first shot Pen, damn that guy in the Wallaby's jersey though, mongrel.
ReplyDeleteRichie - yeh this place is only about 40 mins from North Lakes, would be more from Wavell Heights. But still not that far in the scheme of things.
